NATO: Russia's strikes on Ukraine's power grid terrorizes civilians

A NATO spokeswoman expressed sharp criticism of massive overnight Russian attacks on Ukraine's power grid and said the alliance would continue to support Kiev.

"NATO strongly condemns Russia's large-scale attack against Ukraine, that has killed and terrorized civilians and targeted critical energy infrastructure," the spokeswoman said.

"We stand by Ukraine, and allies continue to make unprecedented contributions to Ukraine's defences," she added.

She noted that in response to the war, NATO had strengthened its air and missile defence and said it would continue to assess its posture and defend all members.

The plant at Russia's Alabuga Special Economic Zone recently started churning out thermobaric drones alongside the decoys, the investigation found. The thermobaric warheads create a vortex of high pressure and heat that can penetrate thick walls.

The search for clues after a U.S. Air Force F-16 Viper fighter brought down a still-unidentified object over Lake Huron in February 2023 did result in the recovery of debris, it has been disclosed. The new details continue to raise more questions about the downing of this and two other mystery objects that same month in American and Canadian skies, and why more information has not been made public. A racist term for a Native American woman will be removed from nearly three dozen geographic features and place names on California lands, the state Natural Resources Agency announced Friday. California Gov. Gavin Newsom in 2022 signed a bill into law that bans use of the word "squaw" in future place names and ordered the agency rename all places that used the slur, including on streets, bridges, public buildings and cemeteries, the Los Angeles Times reported Friday.

CAIRO (Reuters) -Two flash bombs were fired towards Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's home in the northern Israeli town of Caesarea on Saturday and fell into the garden, police said. Neither Netanyahu nor his family were present and there was no damage reported, it added in a statement. Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz said the incident crossed "all red lines" in a post on X early on Sunday.

A rare Israeli airstrike on central Beirut killed Hezbollah's chief spokesman on Sunday, an official with the militant group said. Earlier, officials said Israeli strikes killed at least 12 people in the Gaza Strip, where Israel has been at war with the Palestinian Hamas for over a year. The latest in targeted killings of senior Hezbollah officials came as Lebanese officials considered a United States-led cease-fire proposal.
