NBA Rumors: Donte DiVincenzo Was Eyed by Wolves as FA in 2023 amid Towns Trade

Elsa/ Following a blockbuster trade on Friday night, in which Karl-Anthony Towns reportedly joined the New York Knicks in exchange for Donte DiVincenzo, Julius Randle and a first-round pick, ESPN's Tim Bontemps and Bobby Marks revealed that DiVincenzo has been on the Timberwolves' radar for much longer than just the offseason.

According to Bontemps and Marks, "Minnesota was high on DiVincenzo as a free agent after he played one season with the Golden State Warriors."

After being the No. 17 pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, DiVincenzo, 27, has spent his seven years in the league on four different teams including the Milwaukee Bucks, Sacramento Kings and the Golden State Warriors.

Following a standout year with Golden State in 2023, where he shot just below 40% from the three-point line, DiVincenzo became a highly sought-after player in the league. He ultimately landed a spot on the Knicks after the Timberwolves expressed interest.

Last summer, he signed a four-year deal with the Knicks and went on to have a career year with 283 3-pointers while shooting 40 percent from behind the arc.

Losing Towns, one of the best shooting big men in the league, will be an adjustment for the Timberwolves. While they will gain a much-needed shooter in DiVincenzo, they will miss Towns' height and size in the lineup.
