NCHSAA announces 2024 girls dual team postseason brackets
Page is the No. 3 4A West seed, the highest among Greensboro teams, in the upcoming NCHSAA dual team girls tennis state championships, as announced by the association on Friday.
The Lady Pirates are 15-0 as a team and have gone 120-20 in matches. Sophomore Sophie Wilkerson is 14-0 individually, with all matches played as the team's No. 1 player.
Page has been 8-1 overall in doubles matches, with the sophomore-junior combination of Ashby Gansman and Emma Pyrtle going 4-0 in No. 1 matches.
It has four dual team NCHSAA state championships, the most for any Greensboro area schools. Each title came in the 4A classification from 2004-2007.
Bishop McGuinness, from nearby Kernersville, is also a No. 3 seed but in the Class 1A bracket. The Lady Villains are 14-1 on the season, 6-0 in the Northwest Piedmont 1A Conference. They have a combined record of 125-18 in matches, with freshman Lucia Neves 22-0 overall in singles, senior Kendall Herr 9-3 in No. 2 singles and senior Adelaide Jernigan 11-0 between Nos. 2 and 3 singles.
For Classes 2A-4A, the first round of the tournament is slated for Monday, the second round on Oct. 23, the third round on the 28th, the fourth round on the 30th and the regional finals on Nov. 5. The 1A tournament has one less round, with play beginning on the 23rd and each round progressing forward with the same dates.
There are no area teams in the Class 2A bracket.
The state championships for all four classifications are scheduled for Nov. 9 at the Burlington Tennis Center.
