OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Saturday night, Oklahoma City Police responded to a shooting in a residential area near Northeast Katherine Place and Wilshire boulevard.

Raul Chapa lives in the apartment complex just feet away from the crime scene. He said he was watching TV when chaos erupted outside.

Chapa said, "I heard a boom, boom, boom."

Authorities say the gunfire rang out around 8'oclock that night.

When officers arrived to the scene, they said they found a male victim laying in the middle of the street.

It's unclear if the shooting happened in the street, or elsewhere.

Raul Chapa said he figured someone was seriously injured, or killed, given the number of gunshots he heard.

"I thought they were just shooting up in the air. Five minutes later, there's already an ambulance there."

Police said the victim was taken to a hospital where he later died.

Chapa said his instincts told him to throw himself onto the floor and under the bed.

Chapa has lived in his NE Oklahoma City apartment for about a year. He said shootings aren't uncommon.

As of Saturday night, there were no suspects. News 4 reached out to Oklahoma City Police Sunday afternoon to see if any arrests were made overnight. Investigators tell us there are no further updates at this time.
