Nevada Cancer Coalition hosting “Bras for a Cause” fashion show for breast cancer awareness

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - The Paint Nevada Pink "Bras for a Cause" is a brand new event this year in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. The event celebrates cancer survivors through creativity and togetherness. Using a bra as the canvas, organizations and community members are invited to create original, inspiring or even funny art inspired by breast cancer. All funds raised support breast cancer screening in Nevada.

These works of bra art will be showcased at the Bras for a Cause Fashion Show at Locomotion Plaza in downtown Reno Tuesday, Oct. 1, followed by the pink lighting of the Reno Arch for breast cancer awareness. The bras will also be a part of a mobile exhibit that will be displayed at different locations in Reno throughout the month of October. All proceeds from this event will go to the Nevada Cancer Coalition's assistance fund to provide uninsured and underserved people with mammograms and diagnostic services.

Lily Helzer, prevention and early detection programs manager, and Sarah Grocki, community engagement manager, stopped by Morning Break to encourage people to sign up to create their one-of-a-kind bras. A limit of 40 bras will be allowed into the fashion show on a first-come, first-served basis, so get your form and payment in soon! Completed forms and payment are due by Friday, Sept. 27.

How to Enter

Individual entry fee - $20

Business/organization entry fee - $75

Fee includes entry into the fashion show along with your bra displayed with your entry name and individual/business name on our mobile bra exhibit for the month of October.

Entries can be made online with credit card payment using the online form.
