New Haven police use GPS device to track suspected bank robbers
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — New Haven police used a specialized GPS tracking device to track down a vehicle that could have been used in a bank robbery in Hamden.
Hamden police contacted New Haven officers at about 10 a.m. Thursday to alert them that a tan SUV was used in a bank robbery. New Haven police then spotted the vehicle.
It drove off, but officers used a StarChase GPS unit to track it, according to police. Steven Setzer, 39, then tried to run off, but was taken into custody alongside 43-year-old Kathry Quiello, who police said was driving the van.
A search warrant at their hotel found an illegal gun and fentanyl that had been packaged to be sold, according to police. New Haven police have not elaborated on if money was found inside, and New Haven police have not charged the two with theft.
Quiello has been charged with interfering with police, engaging police in a pursuit and reckless driving. Setzer was charged with interfering with police, along with firearms and narcotics charges.
