New license plate reading cameras installed in Sioux City

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — The Sioux City Police Department has installed three new flock cameras located on Military Road, Gordon Drive, and Sergeant Road.

Officials say the cameras will help with license plate recognition to be able to apprehend suspects much quicker.

"These cameras are what they call Flock cameras, they are to assist in criminal investigation" police sergeant Tom Gill said. "So they're license plate readers, read the rear license plates and it will help us with finding suspects and also locating victims."

The last four in Sioux City are expected to be installed by the end of this week.
