MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Collierville and Millington are getting new mayors after all the ballots have been counted.

Longtime Collierville Alderwoman Maureen Fraser will soon be the Mayor of Collierville, defeating Billy Patton with 57% of the vote.

"What she'll do differently from what Mayor Joyner did? I am not 100% sure about that but I think she will continue to be strategic, use logic and critical thinking in every decision that she makes," said John Duncan, Collierville resident.

Fraser severed as an alderwoman since 2003 and was endorsed by current Mayor Stan Joyner.

"I am honored, humbled, and ready to get to work for all the citizens of Collierville. To Mayor Joyner, my campaign team, all my volunteers, supporters, friends, family, and voters, thank you so very much! There are so many amazing opportunities on the horizon for Collierville, let's all do it together," Fraser said in a statement.

Duncan believes voters got it right.

"I feel like she was the best candidate to continue the progress we have already started," Duncan said.

But, Collierville is not the only city turning to a new mayor after this election.

Larry Dagen will be the new Mayor of Millington after claiming more than 62 percent of the votes against his opponent, Cary Vaughn. Dagen has been an alderman since 2010.

"Sometimes when you have like a new face. It means new ideas and that's positive for the community," said Kristy Moody, a Millington resident. "I feel like he is a positive role for this community. A new beginning and a fresh start for this community."

Moody has lived in Millington for three years. She says she voted for Dagen because he promised more growth in Millington.

"We would like that and it is growing so that's a plus right there. It's on the right track," she said.
