New medical center under construction in Bernice, La.
BERNICE, La. ( KTVE / KARD )–The community of Bernice is getting a new medical center. NBC 10's Joel Massey has more on what the new hospital will feature.
David Caston with Reeves Memorial Medical Center is excited about the new medical center that is under construction in Bernice.
"Four years ago we celebrated our 50th anniversary and so we started planning for the next fifty years and we went through a process with our board of directors to develop a replacement hospital based on the needs of this community and the surrounding community."
Caston says that the new facility will be top notch.
"This replacement hospital is going to be 52 thousand square feet 15 bed hospital with private rooms private bath private showers. We are going to have a 12 thousand square foot primary care clinic that includes counseling it's also going to include dentistry, pediatric services."
The new center will also have features that will help diagnose illnesses.
"Our hospital's going to have state of the art diagnostics including a 64 slice CT scanner, mammography. We are going to have an outpatient therapy clinic as well that will include pulmonary rehab pediatric therapy, speech OT and PT."
With the new facility has come growth to the company's bottom line as well.
"Oh this is tremendous for our community it feels great. In fact we are already feeling the benefit of the excitement. We've grown 20 percent this year in volume and revenue and expecting even more growth."
The hospital is scheduled to be completed around the first quarter of 2026.
