New Mexico Donor Services honors organ donors with local gathering

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Those in New Mexico who gave the gift of life were honored on Saturday.

New Mexico Donor Services hosted a celebration to honor those who have donated organs from 2020 to 2023.

According to the organization, 95 organ donors were involved in nearly 250 life-saving transplants.

  • Many people shared their experiences of donating organs, as well as some sharing their experience of waiting for a matching donation.

    The organization said one organ donor can save up to eight different lives. They also said New Mexico was voted the "second kindest" state in the nation, with 53% of residents registered as organ donors.
