New Superintendent Named For Long Valley Schools
LONG VALLEY, NJ — The search is over, and the Washington Township School District has appointed its new superintendent.
Antonella Lind, who has more than 18 years of experience in the education field, will serve as the new superintendent, the district announced last week.
Lind brings nine years of experience as a special education teacher, along with a diverse range of administrative roles in the North Haledon Public School District in Passaic County. Her leadership positions have included principal of High Mountain Middle School, director of curriculum, instruction, and assessment, director of special education, director of student services, and acting superintendent.
Officials also noted that during her time as acting superintendent and principal in North Haledon, High Mountain Middle School was named one of the Best Middle Schools by U.S. News & World Report in 2024.
"Antonella brings a comprehensive understanding of educational excellence to the Washington Township Schools," the school board said. "Her achievements include spearheading the implementation of a STEAM Lab, establishing Professional Learning Communities, prioritizing student voice and leadership opportunities, implementing educational and family-focused programs for students and families, supporting robust special education programs, and maintaining an open-door policy that encourages transparent communication and collaboration among students, staff, and families."
Lind's contract with the school district will begin in January and extend through June 2029.
Lind will succeed interim Superintendent Marybeth Kopacz, who has been managing the Washington Township School District, which serves more than 1,900 students. Kopacz stepped into the role this past May after the departure of Peter Turnamian, who had served as superintendent since 2021.
