HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) — A $650,000 traffic shift at Pride Elementary School in Madisonville hopes to prioritize safer access for student pickup and shorter wait times with a new traffic queue.

In a release from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, this new construction is set to begin in Madisonville on Monday.

This investment from the Commonwealth of Kentucky will have traffic flow shifted from the existing entrance at Pride Elementary (KY 1581) to the new queue which begins on Pride Avenue Drive and wraps around the outer edge of the school's property.

This new design is expected to reduce the wait times on Pride Avenue during the afternoon student pickup.

This project is scheduled to be completed by the end of November.
