New York man sentenced to 15 years in killing of Jersey City 15-year-old

A New York man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for the killing of a Jersey City 15-year-old boy when he was just 17 years old, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

Justin Goris, 20, of Queens, must serve at least 85%, or nearly 13 years, of the sentence before he is eligible for release, according to the sentence handed down by Hudson County Superior Court Judge Mitchell Pascual Monday.

Goris pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter July 31. As a 17-year-old at the time of the Feb. 12, 2022 fatal shooting, he was initially charged as a juvenile before being waived to the Criminal Division.
