Newcastle midfielder Elliot Anderson set to join Nottingham Forest for £35MILLION with a player to come in the opposite direction - as the Magpies ease points deduction headache

Newcastle midfielder Elliot Anderson is set to join Nottingham Forest in a deal worth £35million with a player to come in the opposite direction, Mail Sport understands.

Anderson, 21, is expected to join Forest on a permanent deal after the two clubs held talks in recent days and a medical may now follow.

St James' Park figures have been battling to avoid a Premier League points deduction for failing to comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules and they need to offload before tonight's accounting period deadline.

Fears they would have to reluctantly sell Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon were effectively allayed after a bid of around £33million from Brighton for Yankuba Minteh was accepted - and Anderson is also now poised to leave the club.

The name of the player who will swap the City Ground for Tyneside is not yet known.

More to follow.
