Newington veteran featured on ‘Wheel of Fortune’ raises over $1,700 for local food pantry

ROCKY HILL, Conn (WTNH) — A Newington veteran who appeared in an episode of "Wheel of Fortune," and the Rocky Hill Police Department raised around $1,700 for a local food pantry for Thanksgiving.

Will Jordan, who is a retired police sergeant and school resource officer, started a raffle at a viewing party for the episode he was featured in.

The money raised was donated to the Rocky Hill Human, Youth, and Senior Services .

The organization shared a statement on Facebook thanking Jordan and Rocky Hill police for the money donations.

"It was an honor to support the Rocky Hill Food Pantry. We are hoping our donation can treat a round of sausage to someone this holiday season!

Thank you, Officer Jordan, for being such a great sport and for turning this opportunity into a meaningful way to help our community. Your dedication and positive spirit truly make a difference," the Rocky Hill Police Department's Facebook post read.

Jordan credited his son, Shawn Jordan, as the one who convinced him to apply to be on the show.
