NewsChannel 9 employees make their snowfall predictions in the inaugural ‘Golden Shovel Award Contest’

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — The Storm Team announced their Winter Outlook for the 2024-2025 winter season. They are predicting another winter with below-normal snowfall totals and above-normal temperatures.

Since Syracuse hasn't had a seasonal snowfall totaling over 100′′ in 5 years, the Storm Team decided to have a little fun and create a Golden Shovel Award Contest. And yes... the prize is indeed a golden shovel. Sprayed painted gold that is.

The rules: -You can guess any amount -The person closest to the actual total from the Syracuse Airport at the end of the season gets the golden shovel prize -You can be closest and over the amount, it's not Price is Right rules around here (per Jim Teske)
