Tower Health

Four members of the Tower Health-Reading Hospital team have received national recognition from "Becker's Hospital Review" for their professional accomplishments.

Dr. Suzanne Wenderoth, Tower Health and Reading Hospital chief medical officer, was named to Becker's list of Chief Medical Officers (CMO) to Know.

Wenderoth, a practicing physician, is responsible for medical affairs and central verification offices, and she ensures the alignment of Tower Health physicians and providers. She oversees the care management, population health, utilization review, programs for Tower Health and Reading Hospital, as well as quality and safety initiatives related to length of stay, inpatient utilization, readmissions, and transition of care. In addition, she is a member of the Tower Health providers board of managers and Reading Area Community College board of trustees.

Dr. H. Christopher Lawson, chief, division of neurologic surgery at Reading Hospital, was named to Becker's list of Black Healthcare Leaders to Know.

Lawson is committed to outreach and education, and he participates in community events to discuss the continuum of care available in the health system.

Desha Dickson, vice president of diversity, equity, inclusion and community wellness at Tower Health, was named to Becker's list of Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officers to Know.

Within the health system and community, Dickson is a highly respected leader and mentor. She is also a passionate advocate for patients, employees, and surrounding communities. In her role, she drives the organization's efforts to increase diversity, equity, inclusion, and cultural proficiency within the health system. She and her team are instrumental in developing and implementing initiatives with community partners to improve the health of the community through innovations in health education and community engagement.

Melanie Stutzman-Ricci, vice president, support services, was named to the list of Supply Chain Leaders to Know.

Stutzman-Ricci is a certified nephrology nurse by practice and background. This experience allows her to help translate clinical into business, providing insight and expertise when needed. With the help of her leadership, the supply chain team has been instrumental in addressing significant supply chain disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Through the implementation of strategic sourcing initiatives and enhancing inventory management practices, the team was able to ensure the continuous availability of essential supplies while ensuring that items were not going to waste.

Gawthrop Greenwood, PC

Jennifer L. Simons has joined the law firm of Gawthrop Greenwood PC as an associate attorney practicing in the firm's Trusts and Estates Department.

A life-long resident of the Philadelphia area, Simons advocates for the well-being of her clients as they work together to make highly individualized decisions in the areas of estate planning, special needs trusts, guardianship and estate administration. She excels in translating legalese into true understanding while preparing wills, powers of attorney and advance medical directives. She also supports clients in adult guardianship matters as well as special needs trusts, and provides representation in Orphans' Court.

Prior to joining Gawthrop Greenwood, Simons served as an associate attorney at a regional law firm where she also served as a legal assistant while attending Widener University Delaware Law School at night and achieving dean's list honors. Previously, she achieved a successful career in corporate retail for a leading apparel provider.

Simons will serve in Gawthrop Greenwood's West Chester and Berwyn offices. A member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, she has been named a Super Lawyers Rising Star and provides seminars on estate planning issues, guardianships and special needs planning.

Barley Snyder

Attorneys Kristen L. Hartman and Gloria A. Shatto recently joined the firm of Barley Snyder in its Lancaster office. Both attorneys are the newest members of the firm's Trust and Estates Practice Group.

Hartman brings extensive experience to the firm in the areas of wealth management, banking and law. In her most recent position, she served as chief fiduciary officer at a Lancaster-based bank. Prior to entering the banking industry, Hartman practiced at a regional law firm in the areas of estate planning, estate administration, charitable and elder law. Active in her community, Hartman serves on the board of directors for the Institute for the Development of Educational Alliances (IDEALL) and the Lancaster Law Foundation.

Shatto joins Barley Snyder with a demonstrated history working in estate and trust administration and wealth management. Before starting at the firm, she worked as a trust and estate administration manager at a Lancaster-based bank where she handled a vast array of estate matters. Shatto also has prior experience practicing law at a firm in Lancaster County where she advised clients on matters of estate planning, estate administration, real estate transfers and elder law. Currently, she serves on the board of trustees for The Janus School.
