Newville Water, Sewer Authority receives nearly $850k grant for water tank
Newville's water and sewer authority plans to construct a water tank using state grant funding.
The authority will receive $848,250 under the state's Local Share Account program, which distributes funds from the casinos and other gaming establishments.
It's one of 14 Cumberland County projects to be funded through the program this year.
The water tower will be installed in neighboring West Pennsboro Township, with the grant paying for construction, engineering and administrative costs, according to a news release from state Rep. Barb Gleim's office.
Newville Water & Sewer Authority Manager Robert Sabatini said the tank will increase water pressure and volume in that region.
It will also increase the capacity for residential and commercial connections, such as a proposed AAMPA Holdings warehouse project along Ritner Highway, he said.
Sabatini expects the tank could be constructed in the next year or two.
"What this allows the authority to do is to provide better service out in that section of our service area," he said.
