NFL Draft 2025: Would Giants regret picking Cam Ward instead of Shedeur Sanders?

Daniel Jones has been a complete failure since getting $82 million.

And now, the Giants are heading toward replacing Jones — who is 3-13 since getting that money over a two-year stretch — in the 2025 NFL Draft.

So which quarterback will they pick? (Also: Who will be the general manager making the pick?)

Well, in CBSSports.com's latest mock draft , the Giants at No. 2 get Miami's Cam Ward.

That's after the Jaguars at No. 1 take Colorado cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter — though they could obviously trade out of that pick, since they don't need a quarterback.

Here's the rationale for Ward to the Giants at No. 2:

Next year's draft is not considered a great one for quarterbacks. And the Giants could have some competition among quarterback-needy teams. Right now, the Titans, Browns, and Raiders are third through fifth in the draft order. All three teams could take a quarterback.

Those are currently the two-win teams — Jaguars, Giants, Titans, Browns, and Raiders.

But of those three teams after the Giants, CBSSports.com has just one (the Browns) taking a quarterback. Cleveland goes with Colorado's Shedeur Sanders — who certainly could be an option for the Giants at No. 2.

Would the Giants regret taking Ward over Sanders? That's a big hypothetical question that will linger between now and next year's draft, as mock draft pile up.

Ward and Sanders are the only quarterbacks projected in Round 1 of CBSSports.com's mock draft.

For what it's worth, NFL.com also lists Texas' Quinn Ewers in its top 25 overall prospects, along with Ward and Sanders. Just those three quarterbacks.

Bottom line: The Giants botched a great chance to draft Jayden Daniels or Drake Maye this year, because they closed 4-3 after a 2-8 start. Now that the Giants are 2-8 again, will that happen again, entering a weaker quarterback draft?
