NFL history made during Detroit Lions-Jacksonville Jaguars after incident that's never happened before
HISTORY was made in the Detroit Lions' win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
The Lions mauled the Jaguars 52-6 to extend their record this season to 9-1.
The Jaguars on the other hand, have seen their dismal campaign worsen with a fourth consecutive defeat putting their record at 2-9.
And the game itself actually made history with the 52-6 victory for the Lions the first time an NFL game has ever ended in that scoreline.
Unbelievably, it's the 1088th unique final score in NFL history, according to social media account Scorigami .
The new scoreline doesn't come close to the record for the NFL's biggest ever win though.
That record his held by the Philadelphia Eagles who beat the Cincinnati Reds 64-0 back in 1934.
But despite avoiding being on the end of that hammering, Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson is still under mounting pressure,
Sunday's defeat was the joint-worst in franchise history, tied with when they were a first-year expansion team in 1995.
And this has led to serious doubts over the future of head coach Pederson , who has been at the helm since February 2022.
It's been reported that a change in staff could happen heading into Week 12 as the Jags enter their bye week.
Pederson has remained calm on the speculation, insisting it's out of his control what happens.
He said: "I can't control that.
"I've been around this sport a long time, and if it is going to happen, it is obviously going to happen.
"But at the same time, I have a job to do and that's to get this team ready to face a good division."
Should Pederson be relieved of his duties, QB coach Mike McCoy could step in to fill the void for the time being.
