NFL history: RB looking to join Browns Jim Brown in rushing TD category

E.Wright2 hr ago
Any time a player is compared to or put in the same category as Cleveland Browns legend Jim Brown you know they are special. Brown had a relatively short career in the NFL but has been considered by many as the greatest player of all time.

In nine seasons for the Browns, Brown compiled over 12,000 yards rushing, 106 touchdowns and averaged over 104 yards per game.

Brown passed away last year.

The team that was stolen from Cleveland and named the Baltimore Ravens has RB Derrick Henry producing well after being signed in free agency. Well enough to have a chance to join Brown among the elite running backs in the game.

Henry has three career seasons with at least 13 rushing touchdowns (2019-20, 2022) and with his next rushing touchdown, he will become the fifth player in NFL history to reach the mark in four career seasons, joining Pro Football Hall of Famers LaDainian Tomlinson (six seasons), Shaun Alexader (five), Emmitt Smith (four) and Brown (four).

Henry, like Brown, has been a true workhorse back averaging over 20 carries per game for four straight seasons before dropping down to 16.5 in his final year with the Tennessee Titans.

Twice, including last year, Henry had 12 rushing touchdowns in a season and topped out with 17 in 2020. Like Henry, Brown's career high in rushing touchdowns was 17 (twice).
