NFL trade deadline: Browns DB, WR seen as targets for Packers, Chiefs

The Cleveland Browns already made one big move well in advance of the November 5th NFL trade deadline. The trade of WR Amari Cooper for a third-round pick (along with two late picks being moved) was a value move for the 1-5 Browns who were likely losing Cooper this offseason anyway.

That doesn't mean Cleveland GM Andrew Berry is done but rumors of a "fire sale" seem unrealistic as well. The Browns have at least 11 untradeable players , for a variety of reasons, but we noted six, including Cooper, who could be targetted by other teams .

As the WR room resets after the Cooper trade , Elijah Moore was noted as a target for the defending Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs :

Moore has caught just 16 passes for 95 yards this season, averaging only 9.5 yards per reception. However, that might be more of a quarterback stat than anything else. Moore is a fantastic route runner who can make plays after the catch, but his biggest knock is that he is a smaller receiver who is a slot-only player.

The projected trade would have Cleveland acquiring a fifth-round pick in exchange for Moore who is eligible for free agency at the end of the season.

Moore wasn't the only Browns player on the list of five trades that " would shake up the second half of the NFL season. " Often rumored, if only by Cleveland fans, to have one foot out the door, CB Greg Newsome II was projected in a trade with the Green Bay Packers :

The Green Bay Packers have been searching for another quality cornerback to pair with Jaire Alexander, and Newsome seems like a perfect fit. They have the cap space to absorb his salary, and Newsome's ability to play outside and in the slot would make a ton of sense in Green Bay.

Denzel Ward already highly paid and Martin Emerson up for a new contract, despite a down year in 2024, dealing Newsome makes sense. With the talented cornerback under contract next year as well, the projected trade would have the Browns acquiring another third-round selection.

Making both of those projected moves, along with the Cooper trade, would give Cleveland five selections in the first 100 picks and another fifth-rounder as well. Dealing Newsome would free up a little cap space in 2025.
