EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The New Mexico State men's basketball team will play its toughest game of the season yet when it matches up with Dayton at UD Arena in Dayton, Ohio on Wednesday.

New Mexico State enters Wednesday's game on fire. The Aggies are off to a 3-0 start the season and will look to make it 4-0. NMSU men's basketball is aiming to get off to a 4-0 start to the season for the first time since the 2011-12 campaign.

Dayton also heads into the game undefeated. Dayton, led by head coach Anthony Grant, is 4-0 on the season and is coming off a 76-55 home victory over Capital last Saturday. Leading the charge for the Flyers this season is senior guard Enoch Cheeks, who serves as the offensive catalyst averaging a team-high 17.3 points per game. Cheeks is also a force on the boards, pacing Dayton with 8.6 rebounds per contest – posing a significant challenge for the Aggies on both ends of the floor.

This meeting between UD and New Mexico State is the first in 58 years. The previous two meetings were in the old UD Fieldhouse (now known as the Frericks Center). The Flyers took both — 76-60 on Dec. 16, 1961 and 74-48 on Dec. 30, 1966.

Tipoff for the game between NMSU and Dayton at UD Arena is at 5:00 p.m. MT. The game will stream on ESPN+.
