Reigning men’s basketball player of the year Zach Edey and second-ranked Purdue lock in with Mark Few’s 11th-ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs Monday in the opening round of the Maui Invitational in Hawaii.

ESPN2 will broadcast at 5 p.m. EST but college basketball fans without cable can still watch by signing up for (free trial), DirecTV Stream(free trial) or Sling TV

A deep Purdue roster features the 7-foot-4 Edy and a host of returners that has the Boilermakers 3-0 to start the season. That includes an 83-71 victory over Xavier last week, with Edey posting 28 points and 11 rebounds over 33 minutes. Guards Braden Smith and Fletcher Loyer chipped in 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Few will counter with a roster filled with transplants, including 6-foot-9 big Graham Ike (Wyoming) and point man Ryan Nembhard, who previously averaged 12.1 points and 4.8 assists at Creighton last year.

Nembhard dropped in 16 points vs. Yale earlier this season. Braden Watson is another top player to watch for Gonzaga, a 41⁄2-point underdog.

Purdue and Gonzaga are among five AP Top 25 teams in Honolulu, joining No. 1 Kansas, No. 5 Marquette and No. 9 Tennessee. Syracuse, Chaminade and UCLA round out the eight-team field. The tournament was moved to Honolulu because of the devastating fires on Maui.
