No. 18 Warriors Take Down Mount Marty in Four Sets

No. 18 Midland volleyball secured a 3-1 (25-14, 25-16, 20-25, 25-18) win over Mount Marty Wednesday night.

The Warriors offense got back on track in the win, hitting .286 to the Lancers' .072.

Midland pulled off an 8-1 and a 7-1 run in the opening set and followed it up witth an 11-0 run during set two to take a two-set lead in the match.

Mount Marty pulled off the long run in set three to extend the match, using a 6-0 spurt to tie the Warriors late then pull ahead for the win.

Midland closed the game with a 6-0 run, breaking a 19-19 tie in set four, to pick up its 13th win of the year and move to 9-2 in GPAC play, good for third in the conference standings.

Brooklynn Snyder and Jacki Apel each reached double figures in kills with Synder pounding out 16 and Apel 15.

Brena Mackling and Stella Kuehl each dished out more than 20 assists with Kuehl finishing with 24 and Mackling 21.

Delanie Vallinch led the Warriors in digs with 21.

Midland will have a chance to shake up the GPAC standings Saturday, traveling to face undefeated and No. 1 in the country Northwestern.

The Warriors are 1-7 against ranked opponents this fall.

First serve is set for 3:30 p.m. at tte Bultman Center in Orange City, Iowa.
