Men's soccer teams from West Virginia University and Marshall will clash on the pitch in Huntington on Tuesday to decide who wins the Sun Belt regular season title.

West Virginia holds a two-point lead over Marshall in the Sun Belt Conference standings. WVU will claim the SBC regular season title outright with a win or draw. Marshall can only capture a second consecutive regular-season crown with a victory.
Tuesday's meeting in southern West Virginia marks the fourth time in the last five matches that the Mountain State Derby is a ranked-vs.-ranked affair. Both of last year's matches were — WVU won the first meeting (5-2) and Marshall took the rematch (3-2).
The Mountaineers have not played their best soccer over the past two-plus weeks. Dan Stratford's crew is 2-1-2 in its last five matches. The head coach was visibly disappointed in his team's performance in their 0-0 draw versus Coastal Carolina Thursday night.
Marshall also played to a scoreless draw against the three-win Chanticleers earlier this year. The Herd also played to a draw last time out, a 1-1 affair on the road at Kentucky.
WVU and MU are two of the three highest-scoring teams in the Sun Belt. No team in the league takes more shots or corner kicks than the Mountaineers. Marshall has the stingiest defense, though, having only allowed 12 goals in 14 matches this season.
Sergio Ors Navarro leads WVU and the Sun Belt, and is fifth nationally, in goals with 12. West Virginia's Marcus Caldeira and Marshall's Lineker Rodrigues dos Santos are tied for fifth in the league with eight goals. With 12 goals and four assists, Ors Navarro ranks first in the Sun Belt and fourth nationally in points.
The series is even at 2-2-1 since Stratford took over as WVU head coach. The home team has not lost in this series since Nov. 2, 2003, when West Virginia defeated Marshall 1-0 in overtime.
