No one can say they weren’t warned. We can’t plead ignorance for electing Trump | Opinion

We can't plead ignorance We knew his character.

We voted for Trump knowing his character. We knew of his lies, his felony convictions and countless other criminal charges.

We knew of his references to "suckers and losers" directed toward those who had served and died for our country.

The list continues. But the list no longer matters. We knew his character and we embraced it.

Authoritarians rejoice, especially Putin, knowing the ease in manipulating a fellow narcissist whose primary concern is for self.

Our allies are fearful, knowing the dangerous path when alliances crumble.

Trump has dark talents seen before in dictators. It is no comfort that their fate never ends well as neither does the fate of the nation they rule.

We knew his character. We knew who he was by listening to him and watching him. We knew his lack of empathy and lust for power.

And we recall his words which ring ominously true when he told us that even if he shot someone in the middle of New York City that we would continue to follow him.

It was a single tragic truth among thousands of lies.

We knew his character.

And it did not matter.

Hold men responsible for unwanted pregnancies Doctor shortage is because of the laws Brad Little and the Legislature promote which interfere with care for Idaho women – restricting the care doctors can give.

Doctors personally told me Idaho politics is a major factor in why doctors do not come to Idaho. Politicians obviously do not care about the doctor's oath. "By all that I hold highest, I promise my patients competence, integrity, candor, personal commitment to their best interest, compassion, and absolute discretion, and confidentiality within the law."

Women of all ages are at risk because of the shortage of OB/GYNs.

The root cause of the problem is the male. He is one who is usually the sexual aggressor — he did not wear a condom — without his sexual act, no unwanted pregnancy.

Politicians put harsh penalties on only women and doctors. Penalties should be on the man. Require him to pay $10,000 fine to help pay for the care of women during pregnancy. Or, issue jail time.

That should reduce unwanted pregnancies.

As it stands, the man is not penalized at all and can go on to create more unwanted pregnancies.

Costs of space tourism The owner of SpaceX donated at least $119 million to the successful Republican ticket. The reasoning was it might be better to have an anti-environment president who won't clamp down on frivolous space flights. According to Cosmos magazine, "As a ballpark, one researcher has suggested that per person, a space tourism flight is 50-100 times worse for the atmosphere than a long-distance plane flight."

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration website, "Like other greenhouse gases, CO2 acts like a blanket in the atmosphere, preventing heat radiating off the planet's surface from escaping into space." And according to New Scientist, 'The worst case scenario would be that overshooting triggers a tipping point such as the collapse of the West Antarctic ice sheet or the drying up of the Amazon, which will be impossible to reverse for many millennia."

Will future generations wonder why their ancestors from 2024 voted for "drill drill drill" instead of fighting for a sustainable environment for future generations.

Don't beg Washington for help again I see one of your health districts has voted to end its COVID-19 vaccine program.

The last time we went through this nonsense with you Harborview Hospital (Seattle), which King County taxpayers ponied up $1 billion to upgrade and renovate, was overrun with Idaho nitwit anti-vax-era "demanding" treatment at Harborview — a regional trauma treatment center.

I have this day sent a letter to newly elected Gov. Ferguson and my state legislators asking that soon legislation be passed and signed into law prohibiting the treatment of COVID-related illness in all Idahoans seeking treatment who cannot or will not produce an up-to-date COVID vaccination card.

We paid for this hospital, Idaho. See to yourselves.

A nation of xenophobes "Give me your tired, your poor,

Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free...

Send these, the homeless, tempest tossed to me,

I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

Emma Lazarus

This poem is inscribed on the Statue of Liberty. Unfortunately, since MAGA voters elected Trump to the presidency this invitation to immigrants is no longer true. As Trump, who referred to immigrants as criminals, rapists and mentally ill, begins to enact Project 2025, which he claims no knowledge of, ten million undocumented immigrants will be deported. Some will be torn from their families and many will be sent to deportation camps. Per Project 2025, birth-right will end, chain migration (Melania's parents) will cease and extended surveillance and racial profiling will be common.

As Trump chooses his cabinet, Project 2025 will require that his chosen people pledge loyalty to an extremist agenda. Over 20,000 supporters will be recruited while over 50,000 career civil servants in Washington D.C. will be purged.

Trump, following Project 2025, will abolish the Department of Education, end ACA and repeal environmental regulations.

MAGA voters, you sold your souls for lower prices. America will suffer the consequences of your decision.

Why Harris lost Why did Harris lose the election? It's really very simple: Americans are fed up with ridiculous liberal, woke policies being shoved down their throats, the anti-American, DEI (anti-merit) indoctrination infecting schools and colleges, the rank abuse and politicization of every government agency to demonize and attack conservatives, the constant race-baiting and divisive rhetoric from the left, and, most importantly, the continuing utter failures and damage to our country caused by liberal, woke policies.
