Normandy PD car hit by alleged drunk driver: Police

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating after a car struck a Normandy Police Department vehicle that was responding to a separate crash Tuesday night.

According to the Normandy Police Department, officers were on southbound Interstate 170 near Natural Bridge Road when a passing vehicle hit the patrol car.

Police officers and the driver of the vehicle were not injured. An occupant of the striking vehicle, however, suffered from minor injuries.

Both cars experienced "extensive and disabling damage." The driver of the striking vehicle was arrested for suspected alcohol impairment.

"While accidents happen, drinking and driving is a conscious decision. Make the right call and choose to ARRIVE ALIVE," the Normandy Police Department said.
