North Augusta Jacket Regiment feeds community

North Augusta, SC (WJBF)- As the CSRA continues to recover from Hurricane Helene, many people are working together to help each other.

Saturday, the North Augusta High School Jacket Regiment marching band boosters gathered at the stadium to cook and distribute the food meant for the next football game.

Instead of letting more than $1,500 worth of food go to waste, they decided to offer it for free to band families. But what was supposed to be just for the band, turned into a community outreach.

"Oh, it's been great. I mean, people have been coming in here, 'Hey, can we take some food to our families?' I took some- I knew there were some power crews around. I took some food to them and fed them. Everybody's just been so grateful that we've been out here, you know, cooking food for the community," said Carl Womack, the North Augusta High School Band Boosters President.

The food was originally meant for the North Augusta High School Homecoming game, which was cancelled and will be rescheduled at a later date.
