North Florida Man Wins $1 Million Playing Scratch-Off Game
The Florida Lottery recently announced that Edwin Scroggin, of White Springs, claimed a $1 million prize from the scratch-off game. The Hamilton County man chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $695,500.00.
Scroggin purchased his winning ticket from Winn-Dixie, located at 580 South Marion Street in Lake City. The retailer received a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning scratch-off ticket.
He claimed his winning prize at the Lottery's Gainesville District Office.
The $30 scratch-off game, features more than $1 billion in cash prizes, including four life-changing top prizes of $15 million and 24 prizes of $1 million.
The game's overall odds of winning are 1-in-2.93. Scratch-off games are an important part of the Lottery's portfolio of games, comprising approximately 74 percent of ticket sales in fiscal year 2023-2024. Additionally, since inception, scratch-off games have awarded more than $63.1 billion in prizes, created 2,175 millionaires, and generated more than $19.24 billion for the state's Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF).
