Nottingham man finds winning $50K Powerball ticket in his car
BALTIMORE, MD—A Nottingham man discovered that he might want to check his tickets more often after he learned he had a $50,000 Powerball winner in his car .
The winner is a fan of the early 2000s TV Series 'Firefly' and is using the alias "Malcolm Reynolds".
According to the big winner, he has a habit of purchasing tickets and accumulating them in a pile. His friend decided it was time to check his tickets and she got out her Lottery app.
As expected, she found minimal $4 and $7 prizes in the pile, but then came across a $50,000 winner in the stack of tickets. "Malcolm Reynolds" couldn't believe it.
"I told her to scan it again," he said with a laugh. "Then I went home and looked up the winning numbers online. I had to keep checking. I couldn't believe it."
The winning numbers from the Saturday, September 28 drawing were 3, 11, 13, 24 and 39; the Powerball was 22. He missed out on the $245 million jackpot as he had 63 instead of 3, but it was still enough to secure the third-tier prize of $50,000.
The Baltimore County resident said he plans to put his prize into the bank.
"Malcolm Reynolds" purchased his winning ticket at the Bel Air Looney's Pub, located at 312 S. Main Street in Harford County.
