The residents filed a lawsuit against the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development, naming Commissioner Adolfo Carrión.

The tenants accuse Carrión of ignoring a 2022 state law that mandates conditions in the city's public housing units be available to the public.

The tenants said when they attempted to review conditions through an online portal, they could not gain access.

The Department of Housing Preservation and Development released a statement saying it cannot comment on active litigation but said data on housing conditions are readily available online.
