NYS Police give update on suspended trooper who was shot on LI highway
NEW YORK (PIX11) — New York State Police are holding a press conference regarding the latest in the investigation into a trooper who was suspended without pay after he was shot on Long Island's Southern State Parkway.
According to Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly, Trooper Thomas Mascia, 27, is being investigated over "inconsistencies" in his story.

Officials previously reported that Mascia was shot in the leg on Oct. 30 when he tried to help what he believed to be a stranded motorist. However, State Police called off the search for a potential gunman on Monday.
As first reported by the Albany Times Union, sources confirmed hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash was discovered inside the Mascia family home in West Hempstead Monday during a search of the property, along with a cache of guns.
