– Odyssey Charter School Principal Wendi Nolder declared Friday, September 27, a day for students, teachers and families to wear gold in recognition of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Odyssey Charter School in Palm Bay is open to all students in Brevard County in grades K-5th grades.

Gold is the color that represents childhood cancer.

"This September, we're inviting all Odyssey Charter School, Inc., families to join us in a meaningful cause in honor of childhood cancer awareness , said Nolder.

"On the last Friday of September—our Dress Out of Uniform Day—we invite students, staff, and families to wear at least one piece of gold in recognition of the children who are bravely fighting cancer and in honor of those children who we have tragically lost."

Why Gold?

Gold represents the strength, resilience, and courage of children battling cancer. Pediatric cancer research is critically underfunded, and together, we can raise awareness and contribute to the fight for better treatments and cures. By wearing gold, we also get to honor and remember those whose brave battle with pediatric cancer ended too soon.

How Can You Help?

Wear Gold: Incorporate a gold clothing item, accessory, jewelry, or ribbon into your outfit on Dress Out of Uniform Day to show your support.

Donate: You can donate directly to

Spread Awareness: Share facts about pediatric cancer with friends and family and encourage others to join the fight.

"Let's come together as a school community to support these young warriors and help fund critical research for a future without pediatric cancer," said Nolder.

"Thank you for helping us make a difference. Together, we can shine a light on this vital cause and honor the brave children fighting for their lives."
