B.Martinez1 hr ago

The Olathe Police Department is investigating an armed disturbance after finding an injured employee in a warehouse Thursday evening, police said.

Officers responded to the area of West 167th Street and South U.S. 169 Highway after a caller stated people dressed in all black and armed with handguns entered a warehouse under construction.

The caller also told police that there was an employee inside the wearhouse that was tied up, Sgt. John Moncayo, a spokesman with Olathe police, said in a news release.

Law enforcement personnel from multiple agencies responded to secure the area, Moncayo said. Officers found a man identified as an employee and safely removed him from the warehouse.

Police did not say whether the man was found restrained, as the caller had stated. He received treatment for non life-threatening injuries, Moncayo said.

After finding the employee, a further search of the warehouse turned up empty.

Police have not yet said who made the initial call, or if they were also a victim in the incident.

Moncayo said police are following up on active leads and an investigation is ongoing.

Anyone who may have information regarding the investigation is urged to call the Olathe Police Department at (913) 971-6363 or the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-8477.
