Old Mission Peninsula Mac & Cheese Bake-Off is back, how to get tickets

When it comes to macaroni and cheese, are you a connoisseur of the creamiest cheddar, or a lover of the crispy outer crust? Either way, you've got a chance to cast your vote as you nosh your way through the Old Mission Peninsula Mac & Cheese Bake-Off later this fall.

Participating wineries work with local chefs and will be serving up their best versions, along with perfectly-paired sips of their wine.

The event is Saturday, Nov. 30 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Tickets for this tasty contest typically sell out quickly. They go on sale Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 9 a.m.

As ticket holders eat their way through the entries, they'll be asked to cast their votes: Best Pairing, Cheesiest Dish, and Best Overall.

It's a great after-Thanksgiving event and it gives people who love to do a little holiday shopping at vineyard stores a head start on their list.

"The return of Traverse City's most popular wine event, Mac & Cheese Bake-Off is an event for everyone," organizers said. " The Old Mission Peninsula Wine Trail members select their favorite seasonal wine and pair it with inventive, delectable, and memorable Mac & Cheese dishes from some of the best restaurants and chefs in the state."

Tickets are $75 per person, and $35 for designated drivers. You can see more information and purchase tickets online at the website here.

"Our favorite part is the creativity that the chefs show in their interpretations of macaroni and cheese, and how each pairs with the wine," said Caitlin Hammond, director of 0perations at Peninsula Cellars. "We love showcasing Traverse City's great culinary talent and feel so lucky that local families and friends continue to make our wineries a part of their holiday traditions."

Tickets will include a souvenir glass in addition to food and wine pairings.

Attendees can purchase the Noodle Fanatic Package to receive macaroni merchandise along with their ticket.

Designated Driver tickets are also available for purchase. (DD ticket holders do not receive a souvenir glass, but tickets do include food and non-alcoholic beverages.)

Participating wineries include 2 Lads, Black Star Farms on Old Mission Peninsula, Bowers Harbor Vineyards, Brys Estate Vineyard & Winery, Chateau Chantal, Chateau Grand Traverse, Hawthorne Vineyards, Peninsula Cellars, Mari Vineyards, and Tabone Vineyards.
