Omaha Police reporting drivers at speeds of 100 mph

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - The Omaha Police Department reports that speeding continues to be an issue in the metro. In an X post Thursday evening, they said that multiple people were caught driving at speeds of 100 miles an hour. According to OPD, one vehicle was stopped near the I-80 and I-680 interchange, and another was stopped on I-680. A separate speeding citation was issued for another driver going at least 36 miles per hour over the posted limit. Late October, a survey came out that revealed that over 60% of Omaha drivers have safety concerns while behind the wheel - especially at intersections. Meanwhile, Douglas County Sheriff Aaron Hanson has ordered a crackdown on speed racing . He says that just this year, 60 people in the county have died in traffic crashes.
