Omaha women's basketball defeats College of St. Mary's
Omaha women's basketball controlled the paint in picking up its first win of the season, a 108-45 victory over College of Saint Mary on Thursday in front of 4,866 fans on a kids day at Baxter Arena.
UNO, which lost 88-48 to Nebraska on Monday in its opener, outrebounded Saint Mary 60-20, including 26-1 on the offensive glass.
Aaliyah Moore, a 6-foot-1 senior transfer, and 6-3 freshman Harriet Ford had double-doubles by halftime. Moore finished with 21 points, 14 rebounds and five assists in 20 minutes, while Ford had 20 points and 15 rebounds in 16 minutes. They combined for 19 offensive rebounds.
Ali Stephens, who hit five of the Mavericks's 10 3-pointers, also was in double figures with 17 points, as were Grace Cave (11) and Kyana Weir (10).
UNO is back at Baxter at 2 p.m. Sunday against Western Illinois.
