One arrested after St. Clair Shores carjacking
A suspect in a St. Clair Shores carjacking was taken into custody Tuesday after a lengthy pursuit through several cities.
Police confirmed that a carjacking took place on Nov. 16 just before 1 p.m. in the Kroger parking lot located on Harper Avenue near Nine Mile Road. The female victim told police that her Kia Soul was taken by force.
According to police, detectives followed up on several leads in the case and discovered the stolen vehicle in Detroit occupied by a person who fit the description of the alleged carjacker.
Officers from St. Clair Shores and Detroit attempted to execute a traffic stop, but the single occupant of the vehicle fled from police.
St. Clair Shores police said a lengthy pursuit ensued through Detroit and Warren with Warren police joining the chase near 10 Mile Road and Sherwood Avenue. The chase ended near Moross Road and Rossiter Street on Detroit’s east side where the driver was taken into custody.
