One dead, one flown from Centre County crash after hitting utility pole

CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — A State College man was pronounced dead and his passenger was flown to a hospital after crashing into a utility pole, state police report.

The crash happened on SR 45 (Earlystown Road) in Potter Township Aug. 12 at around 3:51 a.m., State police said. 25-year-old Corey Fike was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee when it left the lane of travel and struck a utility pole.

The Jeep proceeded to roll over multiple times before coming to rest. Both Fike and the passenger, a 20-year-old woman, were thrown from the vehicle.

Troopers said Fike was rushed to Penn Highlands where he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving. The woman was flown to UPMC Williamsport with serious injuries.
