One injured in officer-involved shooting near Monticello gas station
MONTICELLO, Miss. ( WJTV ) – Agents with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) are investigating an officer-involved shooting that injured one person in Monticello.
The shooting occurred near a gas station on Wednesday, November 6.

Bailey Martin, press secretary for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (DPS), said Monticello police officers encountered a suspect near the gas station. She said the suspect presented a weapon at the officers while getting into a vehicle.
According to Martin, an officer discharged his weapon and struck the suspect. The suspect was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The involved officers did not receive any serious physical injuries, Martin stated.
MBI agents will gather evidence and share their findings with the Mississippi Attorney General's Office.
