In the four weeks since the fatal shooting of popular Kansas City chef Shaun Brady , donations have poured in to support his family.

As of Monday afternoon, about $189,000 had been raised through more than 2,000 donations, according to a GoFundMe page established the day after Brady's killing.

Wrote one recent donor: "So many people loved Shaun, it is so clear. Though he is dearly missed, his smiles and attitude of kindness will remain in our memories. Wishing so many good things for all family and friends."

Wrote another: "Shaun you were a friend to so many and you made me feel special from the first time I met you. We're praying for your wife and beautiful children. Love you brother. You will be missed."

Two teenage boys have been charged in Brady's killing, and could face prosecution as adults . One of the juveniles, identified as K.H., was charged with second-degree murder, armed criminal action and attempted theft of a motor vehicle, while the other, identified as L.M., was charged with second-degree murder and attempted stealing.

Brady, 44, was fatally shot Aug. 28 during an alleged confrontation with the teens in the parking lot outside Brady & Fox, the Irish restaurant he co-owned in Kansas City's Brookside neighborhood. The beloved chef was a father and a prominent personality in the local Irish community, and died just days before the city's annual Irish Fest celebration.

"As a chef, Shaun Brady nourished his community not just with incredible food, but with a deep pride in his culture and a contagious enthusiasm for celebration," organizers with the Kansas City Irish Fest wrote on the GoFundMe page. "The light he brought to our Irish community will endure through those touched by his talent, spirit, and joy for life."
