One of the four men who escaped from a jail in South Carolina was arrested early Thursday morning in Columbia, according to the Richland County Sheriff's Department .

Emanuel Planco, who was among the inmates who escaped from the Chesterfield County Detention Center Monday, was charged with multiple new crimes, the sheriff's department said in a news release.

In addition to the original charges that landed him in the Chesterfield County jail, Planco is now facing counts in Richland County for failure to stop for blue lights and siren, reckless driving, possession of a stolen vehicle, grand larceny, burglary and financial transaction card theft, according to the release.

Just before 2 a.m. Thursday, deputies responded to a report about a suspicious person possibly breaking into vehicles in the 1400 block of Willow Oak Drive , the sheriff's department said. As deputies tried to make contact with the suspect, later identified as Planco, a sheriff's department K-9 specialist saw the 23-year-old Planco break into a Kia, according to the release.

Planco drove away and a pursuit followed, continuing to the area of Lone Drive off of Farrow Road, where deputies ended the car chase by successfully using stop sticks, the sheriff's department said. Planco then ran from the vehicle, initiating a foot chase, according to the release.

Kiro, a sheriff's department K-9, successfully tracked Planco into the wood line on Lone Drive where he was taken into custody before being taken to a local hospital to be treated for dog bites, the sheriff's department said.

Before he was arrested, Planco tried to break into a home near Willow Oak Drive and steal a bicycle, but the homeowner saw Planco on a security camera footage and fired a shot into the air, scaring Planco off, according to the release.

Planco also broke into at least three other vehicles in the 1400 block of Willow Oak Drive, stealing a Play Station 4, multiple credit cards, and ID cards, the sheriff's department said.

Planco will be booked at Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center, and the Chesterfield County Sheriff's Office will bring its own charges.

A manhunt is ongoing for the three other inmates who escaped from the Chesterfield County jail. Anton Conway Bennett, Kyonne Marquise McLeod and De'Shawn Malik Fox are the other inmates who escaped, according to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division .
