Oregon football receiver Ashton Cozart to enter transfer portal
S.Wright3 months ago
The first Oregon player to hit the transfer portal this season is a freshman receiver. Ashton Cozart, a four-star prospect in last year’s recruiting class, announced he would be entering the transfer portal Wednesday night. The 6-foot-3, 195-pound Cozart did not play this season for No. 5 Oregon and has four years of eligibility remaining. “I am grateful for the short time I spent at the University of Oregon,” Cozart wrote via Instagram. “However, after having discussions with my family and mentors, I have made the decision to enter the transfer portal. I have four years of eligibility left and I am excited to see where my next opportunity will take me. I am ready to compete and make the most of this new chapter in my athletic career. I will always cherish my time at Oregon and the experiences I had here. But I am looking forward to what the future holds for me.” The No. 226 player overall and No. 32 receiver in the class of 2023 in the 247Sports Composite, Cozart committed to UO on May 22, 2022, flipping his commitment from Oklahoma. He was the No. 12 receiver and No. 164 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite at the time. Cozart’s departure leaves Oregon with nine scholarship receivers on its roster, all of whom are eligible to return in 2024. The Ducks have commitments from wide outs Jordan Anderson, Dillon Gresham and Jack Ressler in their 2024 recruiting class.MORE DUCKS COVERAGE
