Oregon Insight poll fall 2024: How The Oregonian/OregonLive’s opinion research was conducted

E.Wright25 min ago
From Oct. 9 to Oct. 13, 2024, Portland polling firm DHM Research conducted a survey of registered voters in the Portland metro area on behalf of The Oregonian/OregonLive.

The survey included 600 voters, half of them in the city of Portland, matched to reflect the age, gender, education, political affiliation and race of the area's adult population. Total results for the Portland metro area were statistically weighted to be proportional to the populations of Clackamas, Multnomah and Washington counties.

Respondents completed the survey by live interview telephone calls, including on both landlines and cellphones, and online at a link texted to them. Half of respondents spoke to a live interviewer and 50% took the survey online. In gathering responses, a variety of quality control measures were employed, including questionnaire pretesting and validation.

The poll had a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points. The city of Portland-specific results have an error margin of plus or minus 5.7 percentage points.
