Organization seeks wreath sponsorships for veterans

Wreaths Across America, a national nonprofit organization, will hold a ceremony to honor and remember veterans at Calvary Cemetery in Terre Haute at noon Dec. 14. The deadline to sponsor a wreath is Dec. 3.

Last year, 158 wreaths were laid on veterans graves at Calvary Cemetery with the help of volunteers, veterans' organizations and community leaders. The group's goal is to eventually have enough wreaths to honor every veteran buried within its gates, the organization said in a press release. With each wreath, the name of the veteran is read out loud to thank them for their service.

"We are deeply honored to continue this tradition in Terre Haute," said Ben Upton, vice president of sales at Calvary Cemetery. "Last year was my first experience with Wreaths Across America at Calvary, and as a Marine veteran myself, I was overcome and humbled by the community's response. This is a great thing we are doing to honor our hometown boys and give them the same recognition as those who are buried in military cemeteries."
