origin man living in Canada calls on Indian Army to invade the country
A video has gone viral on social media in which an Indian-origin man is seen calling upon the Indian Army to storm Sikh temples in Canada. In the video, the man, who was part of the Hindu demonstrators protesting the Khalistani violence at the Hindu Sabha Temple in Brampton, is also heard making offensive comments against Canadian Sikhs.
'Indian Army storm this Sikh temple'
"... Indian Army to come here to Canada and storm this f***g Sikh temple. They have no right to have those kinds of temples," the man is heard saying through a megaphone, while the crowd cheers for him.
Who is Ron Banerjee
While the identity of the man who made the provocative chants was not immediately clear, according to some claims on social media, he is Ron Banerjee, the Executive Director of the Hindu Conference of Canada.
Ron Banerjee's past comments under spotlight
This is not the first time Banerjee, who was born in France to Indian parents, has come under scrutiny for his comments. In a 2022 interview with a YouTube channel, Banerjee, who described himself as a Hindu nationalist, had claimed that he wanted Modi to rule Canada and that he "supports the killing of Muslims and Sikhs in India because they deserve to die."
"Hinduism is the way, I am a hardcore Hindu nationalist. I would have Modi ruling India as well as this country (Canada). He kills Muslim terrorists and Sikh terrorists. It is awesome what Modi is doing. Muslims need to understand that if they're gonna need to live in our country, they got to follow our rules and if they don't, they will get it. They will get it," he had said.
As Hindu groups in Canada continued their protests, Peel Regional Police said in social media updates that the demonstration in Brampton, Ontario, was declared an unlawful assembly shortly before 10 pm on Monday, after officers saw weapons "within the demonstration."
