Old Bridge's Santiago makes triumph return after injury The last time that Old Bridge senior Joshua Santiago competed in a 5K, he was walking off Thompson Park with a toe injury and the disappointment of knowing that his season was over.

Santiago had to withdraw from the Central, Group 3 meet last year due to his injury, which he suffered during the race. And while he's technically been back from the injury since indoor track, Friday's race offered some vindication for him.

In his first 5k of the season, Santiago clocked in a PR of 15:39.52 to win the boys varsity race. That time bests his previous PR by well over a minute - 17:09.29.

Egg Harbor overcome adversity to win team title Egg Harbor was hit with adversity at perhaps the worst possible time.

The team's No. 1 runner - Cam Koryga - wasn't able to finish the race after overheating during the race. He was in fifth place right around the two-mile mark.

But the Eagles rallied to win the team title thanks to its depth, boasting a 11-17-23-27-28 score and a overall team score of 106. Junior Matthew Reed was the team's top finisher (17:03.24), placing 13th, while Ben Gettings secured a Top 20 finish as well (17:11.44).
