Over 100 veterans gather to share stories with students at Greater Johnstown
Greater Johnstown Middle School celebrated its 25th annual Veterans Breakfast, welcoming over 100 veterans to honor their service in conflicts ranging from World War II to the present.
Principal Ross Houston, who is in his first year at the school, stressed the significance of the event, saying, "It's our duty to express gratitude to those who have secured the freedoms we enjoy today."
More than 80 veterans were officially registered for the breakfast, with additional attendees joining throughout the morning.
Houston noted that the most meaningful part of the event was the opportunity for students to connect with the veterans and hear their stories.
"It's not about the breakfast or the music, it's about the chance for students to learn from those who have served," he said.
The breakfast provided a platform for veterans to share their experiences, creating a unique learning opportunity for students to better understand the sacrifices made by those who served.
