A commercial vehicle that overturned and caught fire Thursday night is closing a section of the eastbound lanes on the Pennsylvania Turnpike (Interstate 76), according to the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission.

The closure was listed between the Harrisburg East interchange (exit 247) and the Lebanon-Lancaster interchange (exit 266) around 9 p.m., according to a press release and 511PA.com .

The commercial vehicle in question caught fire along the eastbound lanes near mile marker 259.9. The closure will remain in place until the scene is cleared, but the Turnpike Commission did not provide an estimate for when that will be.

While the closure is in place the following detour is in effect:

Take I-283 north for 2.7 miles, then take US-322 East for 21.1 miles before entering PA-72 for two miles and returning to I-76 at the Lebanon-Lancaster interchange.

Pennsylvania State Police and Pennsylvania Turnpike personnel will be stationed near affected areas to assist drivers, the release said.

It is unclear as of Thursday night what caused the commercial vehicle to overturn and catch fire, how many vehicles were involved or if anyone was injured.
